Dyfed Pension Fund is investing over £235 million in companies complicit in Israel’s military occupation, apartheid and genocide against Palestinians, both in Gaza and the West Bank.
This is the pension money of workers in County and Town councils, staff in the police force, fire brigades and other organisations.

I am contacting you as a local resident of [Carmarthenshire/ Ceredigion/ Pembrokeshire]
to urge you to take steps to ensure that no Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds are used to invest in companies that facilitate and enable Israel's grave breaches of international law. Research carried out by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign shows that Dyfed Pension Fund currently has £235 million invested in such companies.
https://lgpsdivest.org/lgps-investments/Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed many tens, if not hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. Over 90% of Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced, most multiple times. Israel has destroyed much of Gaza’s life sustaining infrastructure, including hospitals, water sanitation facilities and agricultural land. The ongoing assault has left the entire population facing famine. In the occupied West Bank, Israel continues its military attacks, which have killed more than 900 Palestinians since October 2023.In January last year, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the world court, handed down an interim ruling affirming there is plausible evidence Israel is committing genocidal acts against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. As a state party to the Genocide Convention, the UK has a binding obligation to employ all means reasonably available to prevent and deter further genocidal acts.Last July, the ICJ issued an advisory opinion ruling that Israel's military occupation of the Gaza Strip and West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is unlawful and must end, and that Israel is in breach of the international prohibition of the crime of apartheid. The court affirmed that all states are under an obligation not to render aid or assistance to this unlawful situation.Stemming from these obligations, councils must avoid procuring from or investing in companies that facilitate Israel's breaches of international law. This includes: companies producing weapons and military technology used by Israel in its attacks on Palestinians; financial institutions providing investment and loans to these arms companies; and companies conducting business activity in Israel’s illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank.I am asking you to commit to starting the divestment of any funds administered by the council from companies complicit in Israel’s crimes against Palestinians.Several LGPFs have already committed to divest from companies complicit in Israel’s breaches of international law, and I hope that you will join them.I look forward to hearing from you about your plans for divestment.
